Building a Wood 38 In Brazil

Fabio Foncesca (love the name!) in Brazil is building a new 38 out of wood. He's planning on cruising to the Azores with it. Here's a series of photos that document progress.

Here's Fabio in front of his laminated keel.

The almost completed keel. He glassed and epoxy coated it which is a good idea in warm waters. It will protect it from marine borers.

Drilling holes for the floor timbers. The "2-by" tacked to the keel serves as a sight guide, making it much easier to drill a vertical hole.

Fabio is even laminating together the floor timbers.
